It's just not worth stopping by on my trip on 95 in south CT. There's too many other good store. This place is trying hard. The name is really annoying.

Quality’s of store has declined dramatically!!! On several occasions I have found rotten produce on shelves, berries rotting, apples rotten items not available. Today the refrigeration is down AGAIN!!! Which seems to happen every two weeks. I am a private chef and shop daily, my job depends on fresh ingredients and I’m not shopping here anymore.

I think what Citarella does best is presentation-but unfortunately that doesn't mean everything you buy here is good. The pre-made food can look appealing, some like Chicken Picatta is delicious, but most is average + overall incredibly overpriced. Actually everything here costs way more than any other grocery store in Fairfield County! Tip: Never shop here on an empty stomach.
